About College

Mahendra Engineering College (Autonomous) is an Engineering College in the Indian state of . It teaches engineering subjects for approximately 10000 students pursuing the Bachelor of Engineering and/or MBAs. The college offers undergraduate programs in the disciplines of mechanical, civil, EEE, ECE, EIE, CSE, IT, MAE (Mechanical and Automation), petrochemical, food technology, chemical, pharmaceutical, MCT (Mechatronics) and Aeronautical engineering and postgraduate programs in Mechanical, Electrical and Communication fields along with the MBA and the MCA.

The Mahendra Educational Trust was established in the year 1978 by Shri. M. G. Bharath Kumar, a renowned educationist with an object of imparting a high standard of education to rural children. The trust is located at Kalippatty - midway between Salem and Tiruchengode. Thiru. M.G. Bharath Kumar, the Chairman of the Trust is assisted by the Governing and Advisory Council in matters of Policy, Planning and Development of the Institutions. Tmt. Valliyammal Bharath Kumar, a best teacher awardee, is the Secretary of the Trust. Thiru Ba. Mahendhiran, a young and dynamic engineer, is the Managing Director.

The Trust lays stress on providing quality education and maintaining high degree of discipline. To meet the demands of the people of Tiruchengode, Namakkal and Salem, the Trust broadened its educational service and started Schools and Colleges in those areas.

The college is located on a 250-acre campus. It has bus facilities for commuting students and 25 km from Salem and 15 km from Tiruchengode.

About Library

MEC Central Library Initially setup in 1995, the Central Library moved to its new independent building in Feb, 2012. Central Library housed in the separate building in front of the Annex building in a vast area of 1431 Sq/m. The main aim of library is to provide right source to right user at right time. The collection of library includes Books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Project documents, Back volumes and CDs/DVDs in the field of Management, Science, Engineering and Technology. MEC Library consists of a Central Library and 12 Departmental Libraries which collectively support teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute.

Sports

The play ground measures 2.17lakh sq.feet and accommodates basketball courts ,ball badminton courts ,football fields ,cricket ground ,kho-kho court ,Kabaddi court , handball court , hockey field , volleyball court and well laid 400 m standard track which all fall outdoor games.

ABOUT HOSTEL

Separate Hostel facilities are available for Boys and Girls. The Hostel provides accommodation for all the needy students. The rooms are furnished with Table, Chair, Cot and Fan. A Committee consisting of the following personnel manages the Hostel

The College has built separate Hostel for Boys and Girls. More than 2000 Students are accommodated. The rooms are furnished for single bed, double bed, three bed or dormitory type occupancy from economy to delux suite to make it affordable to every section of the society. Each hostel room has common facilities for indoor games, reading rooms, audio, video and medical facilities.

OTHER FACILITIES:

BANK

Banking services to staff and students are provided by Union Bank of India Mallasamudram Branch through an on-campus extension counter functioning between 12 noon and 2 p.m. on all working days. An ATM Counter is also installed inside the campus by Union Bank of India Mallasamudram Branch for transactions round the clock.

COMMUNICATION

ISD,STD and Local call facilities are available inside the campus. The telephone extensions are provided in the Hostels so that the students can receive incoming calls. For outgoing calls the students are required to use telephone kiosks.

TRANSPORT

The College has its own fleet of transport to pick-up students from Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Tiruchengode, etc. and covers almost every important locations situated within a radial distance of 55 KM. The College is presently using 45 buses out of 150 buses owned and operated by Mahendra Educational Trust.

INTERNET FACILITY

A 24-Mbps dedicated Internet connectivity is provided to all the departments through local area network, which provides the oppportunity to all to stay in touch with the latest Information.

SOLAR PARK

In the era of energy conservation and exploration of new energy and renewable energy sources our College has conceived and constructed an ENERGY PARK in the College premises. The Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency had parproned the setting-up of Energy Park.
We have established

5 x 75 watts solar powered street lamps.
1 KW solar power park for illustration and running electric fans.
3 x 1000 litres / day solar water heater in hostels and other places.
0.75 H.P. Solar Photovoltic Pump for lifting the water.

The scholarship which will be provided by the government of Bihar will help many of the students to gain good employment and education opportunities and they will be able to complete the education without any financial burden.
